The Myth (staged 2004) - This is the story of Charlotte Rae's attempts to find love admist a backdrop of lies and deceit, heartache and pain. Five people's lives are changed forever once they tragically learn that "happily-ever-after" is simply a myth.

 

Perfect (staged 2005) - This is the story of three best friends, Claire, Sasha, and Zenobia. Each woman is struggling with the realities and expectations society has placed on them to forgo careers in exchange for motherhood. What is the price a woman must pay to follow her dreams? Can a woman have it all without losing her family and her sense of self?

 

Bell Blu (staged 2007) - Bell is tired of living with her mother who insists that the only way she is ever going to leave home is married to a man who will take care of her. Bell despises the whole idea of a woman needing a man to provide for her. She wants to be free to be herself and she will do anything to get her freedom, but she must first overcome domestic violence, rape and gender stereotypes in order to do so.

 

That Color Blind Kind of Love (staging tba) -

Twyla and Sampson are kindred spirits that have loved and searched for one another for over a century. It started in 1855 on a plantation in Virginia. Twyla was a slave owned by Sampson’s family. Twyla was a beautiful 15 year old girl who worked in the kitchen for the Bennett family, a wealthy southern tobacco family. Sampson was  19 years old. When Sampson’s mother learns of their illicit love affair and the impending birth of their love child, she sells Twyla to the highest bidder. Ninety years later (1935), Twyla and Sampson are reborn and find each other again, but the Racial Integrity Act of 1924 forbids miscegenation. They are both jailed and forced to divorce. It’s 2009 and the kindred spirits have found one another again for a third time. Have things changed now? Will society and their families finally allow them to love one another freely?

Can love truly be colorblind? Is there really a such thing as kindred spirits?

The Briefcase (SEE FILM) - This is a story about losing sight of our divine purpose because we are too busy chasing down what society has told us is “The American Dream.” Will a fateful meeting with a homeless man in the park change Phillip’s firm belief that man makes his own destiny?

 

Coffee Break (a love story) - Chris & Valerie met and fell in love when they were in high school . Valerie lost her virginity to Chris and hoped that they would be together forever. But Fate intervened and Chris left Valerie for another woman whom he would later marry. They parted ways when Valerie went off to college, but kept in touch for several years, until Valerie got married and moved across the United States. They had not spoken in 10 years until one fateful phone call. Both of their marriages are in trouble, and they find themselves once again drawn together by a love that has smoldered in time for over 19 years. Will they take a chance and finally let their love bring them together one final time? Will they risk it all for just one more night?

 

Sarah's Blood - Thirteen year old Sarah has a dark secret. Her mother is dying of cancer as Mr. Rose, her pious step-father, is prostituting her out to his friends to feed his drinking habit. Can Sarah save her little sister Emmy from being his next victim? With the help of her best friend, Janie, Sarah sets out to build her prayer army to defeat the monster in her home, Mr. Rose.
